Dr. Mariela Anderson
"My dad was a physician, so I always gravitated towards science. I got into Western Dentistry and practiced as a restorative dentist for 14 years. I always kept the idea of specializing in the back of my mind and decided to apply to orthodontics.
A beautiful smile builds confidence, and is one of the first things people notice upon meeting you. I love working with my patients to create beautiful smiles. I feel like I am making a positive difference in the lives of all my patients. :)"
Dr. Anderson was born in Glasgow, Scotland and spent her early childhood in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Her family moved to London, Ontario in the 1970's where she completed her high school education at Catholic Central High School. She is an avid reader and enjoys traveling, trivia and current events. Dr. Anderson speaks fluent Spanish.

After receiving her Honours Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Anderson entered dental school and graduated in 1993. Dr. Anderson practiced general dentistry for 14 years before making the decision to enroll in the graduate orthodontic program at Western. After completing the three year specialty orthodontic program, Dr. Anderson joined the team at Stratford Orthodontics.
Dr. Anderson served as the President of the Stratford and District Dental Society from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Anderson has been a member of the Board of Orthodontists, as well as a member of the Council of New and Younger Members of the American Association of Orthodontists. She also teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate dental programs at Western.
